Re: Progress on mom's car. Lots of pics.

I will try to take some pictures of the carpet before I get to work on it so I can do a before and after for you all.
There are two things that I am seriously considering getting and that is the Durrmaid Super 1500 extractor $640 (at time of this post) and the VX-5000 $800. I think I would get more use out of the steamer over the extractor though since this is a home hobby that I might do the occasional side job on a weekend when I learn more.

Thanks, they seem to offer a really good selection of products that work and at a low cost.

In the picture you can see it is badly faded so I tried the 303 protectant but it didn't seem to do anything to restore it back to black.

I will definitely look into this product, thanks!

I've got a corolla with a piece that looks that bad also. I'll let you know if I find anything that turns it black again.

Re: Progress on mom's car. Lots of pics.

    I am now finished!
I was to late to take a full car shot by the time I finished painting the wheels. I will try to get a pic tomorrow. There are a lot of chips and etchings in the paint. I don't think she realized how bad it was. I realize most of the pics don't seem to show much difference but I can tell a difference just in how smooth the finish feels compared to before. The DA removed a bunch of the nasties off the paint. The tires and black exterior trim were treated with Chemical Guys G6 atleast two times. I am curious it the deep black will last though.

    Some extras

This was after using a spray foam cleaner from local auto parts

This is after using Chemical Guys Fabric Clean with their carpet and upholstery brushes on my Porter Cable 7424 (I forgot to remove the floor mat for this picture ) The spray foam actually done pretty good. The CG I think done a bit better and also smells nicer.

Re: Progress on mom's car. Lots of pics.

    Thanks!

She likes it. She keeps on telling me that she is going to line me up some side work and that she has gotten compliments. It was good practice for me. I know I need to learn alot about paint correction, what to look for, and how to fix the problem the best way.

I still want the VX-5000 steamer so I think I will have to get myself one here soon. That is a tool I can see getting lots of use out of. A carpet extractor would be nice also but I would have to find one in the $600-800 range and that is good. I saw one on Chemical Guys website, a Durrmaid, but I don't know if it really is good or not. I guess I need to do some searching to find out.
