    '64 Ford Fairlane Correction...

Recently my son and I had the opportunity to get this 1964 Ford Fairlane ready for a local indoor car show “Chrome in the Dome”. The owner is showing it and wanted it to look its best. The car is almost totally original everything. Sorry for the lack of action pictures and a thorough write up, but Andrew and I were busy getting another vehicle ready for the show, and I’ve also been very busy with my day job lately. We weren’t given much notice for either vehicle. The owner of the ’64 called just the week before the show, and the owner of the other vehicle called just 3 days before the show. Fortunately we had already polished the second vehicle last fall, so it only needed cleaned up, a few spots polished and an 85rd session with the rotary. Just wanted to share some pictures of a very cool old car…

    Here’s the process…

    Paint Correction:

Rinsed and presoaked with P21S TAW
    Washed with Pinnacle Soap
Clayed with Riccardo Yellow using ONR mixed @ 1:32 with distilled water for clay lube.

Step 1 = Menzerna SIP/ Cyan HT pads via Flex 3401 and PCxp (IPA wipe down).
Step 2 = Menzerna 106FA/ Tangerine HT pads via Flex 3401 and PCxp (IPA wipe down).
Step 3 = Menzerna 85rd/ Blue LC pads via Flex PE14

Rinsed and presoaked with P21S TAW again
    Washed with Pinnacle soap again
    Rinsed with CR Spotless
    Dried with Metro Master Blaster
    LSP = Swissvax Concorso

Wheels, Tires, Wheel wells, and Exterior Trim:

All cleaned with OPC and various brushes
Wheels polished with Optimum Metal Polish and protected with Permanon Platinum
Tires dressed with Pinnacle Black Onyx Tire Gel
Wheel wells dressed with CG Barebones
Exterior Trim (stainless steel) polished with Optimum Metal Polish and protected with BlackFire Wet Diamond Metal Acrylic Sealant

Door jambs, weather seals, and glass:

Door jambs polished with Klasse AIO, and sealed with Klasse HGSG
Weather seals cleaned with Ultima WW, and sealed with poly charged DG531
Glass polished with m105/cyan HT pad, cleaned with IPA/ Stoners, and sealed with Aquapel

    Interior:

Vinyl cleaned with OPC @3:1 and protected with G|Techniq L1
Dash, door panels, etc, cleaned with 1Z Cockpit Premium and protected with UIGP
Carpets vacuumed, lightly steamed, and protected with 303 Fabric Guard

Here is a picture from last year’s “Chrome in the Dome”.

Doesn’t look too bad from here, right?

    Or from here…

Thanks for the kind words Bobby, much appreciated. Actually the Dodge was the most extreme makeover. We polished it last fall and only had to touch it up a bit for the show. You can see what I mean here...Hack Job Corrected...

It's hard to believe the finish was so horrible on the Ford Fairlane?

Now it looks like it should, like a true show car because it has a true show car finish.

Excellent work and great photography and write-up...

Great job! That year Fairlane is one of my favorites, and now it looks better than it ever did.
