    Techniques for applying tire shine

I have meguiars hotshine tire spray and I usually just spray it directly on the tire for best shine but it gets all over my wheels, making them dirty again. I tried applying with a sponge instead but...

Re: Streaks on window after cleaning

It really is great. Before I found AG I was just a computer geek that used his car to get to work and back. I bought a new mazda and wanted to keep it looking great, so Google brought me here. I...

Just wanted to report back that I used this cleaner and it's amazing. No streaks whatsoever now.

Re: Streaks on window after cleaning

To be fair I used the waffle weave towels fresh out of the box after I bought them. So I don't think it's the normal HE detergent I use... although, you're saying that is problematic by itself?

    Streaks on window after cleaning

My Mazda 6 has ceramic window tint on all 6 windows. Yes, there is even clear tint on the windshield for the heat reduction properties it has. I thought I'd mention this since I'm not certain if the...

    Re: Another Damn Scratch

I guess at the end of the day, it's not about preventing the damage so much as it is about repairing it. It's probably not something I'd do by myself. Does anyone just take their daily drivers into a...

    Re: Another Damn Scratch

That's still pretty confusing. I'm a newbie with this stuff. I'm only aware of Clay -> Polish -> Wax process. Are you talking about an addition to that, or a separate process specifically to address...
  8. Best hose size for shop vac when used to clean interior?

I have a Rigid WD1851 shop vac. It has a 2.5" hose. The hose is pretty stiff and short, so I was looking at getting an extension for it. I have a couple of questions:

    Re: Another Damn Scratch

When you guys talk about "applying a coat", are you referring to the polish? Or the wax after the polish?

    Re: Another Damn Scratch

I clay and wax but don't polish. Everything else already takes too much time. Polishing still follows the same once or twice a year cycle I assume?

    Re: Another Damn Scratch

This is my commute car. I park in the garage but I use it every day for driving to work, the grocery store, anything really that doesn't require much luggage space.

Best way to wash interior cloth/carpet?

My car has rubber floor mats over a carpet flooring. However, sometimes I get mud or grease marks on the carpet. What is the best way to shampoo or clean a carpet? Is it intensive? I've never done it...

    Another Damn Scratch

Half rant; half request for advice. It really irks me every time I wash my car and find some new scrape on the side of my car. I really don't want to be "that guy" that parks out in BFE just to avoid...

Do you wash your car if it's going to rain?

    Hello everyone,

I live in McKinney, TX and looks like it's going to be rainy for the next 7 days or so. Normally I wash my car every 1-2 weeks on the weekend. But if I know it's going to rain for...

The photo below shows a weird series of stains on one of the chrome strips above the passenger window of my 2016 Mazda 6. I'm not able to wash it off or anything. What exactly is this? Is it...

    Re: Simple DIY detailing advice?

Thank you! And yes I'm very happy with the result. I feel like I take too long and am still kind of inefficient, but hopefully as I do it more I'll get better at it.

    The claying/waxing wasn't that...

    Re: Simple DIY detailing advice?

So I detailed my car this weekend. I put a link at the bottom to an album with pics showing the result. Took me about 2 hours and was exhausting. I'm not quite used to the process yet.

    Re: Simple DIY detailing advice?

I didn't know what a front quarter panel was so I googled it and saw this image. Does this mean you save the bottom panels for last? Or is the image wrong and you actually go further down?

    Re: Simple DIY detailing advice?

So then it seems the consensus is to not bother claying unless I polish. That's fair, honestly it seems like too much work anyway for me. I'm not going THAT far, for sure.

    Re: Simple DIY detailing advice?

I did also get a claying kit, it doesn't seem that difficult to do just requires a lot of patience. I feel like claying is a good example of the thing I didn't want to do, though. But waxing/claying...
