Chrome wheel cleaner?
I know there's other threads on wheel cleaners but I need a little more specific. I have chrome wheel that will be polished and then I will use hydrO2 sealant on them, so I was wondering what the best wheel cleaner for those circumstances would be or do I even need one with the sealant?

Car wash soap.
pH basic or acidic wheel cleaners will degrade Hydro2 much faster IME.

It's going to be quite the tenuous task to actually
polish the very thin layer of decorative chrome.
Getting them clean; and then Sealing them...
should be the goal you are shooting for, IMHO.

I have a sample of carpros iron X soap that I think I'll use and then maybe clay bar them? And I have a mothers cone polisher that attaches to a drill sill I'll get some chrome polish and shine them up a bit before sealing. My wheels are a more high end chrome wheel they aren't cheapos or anything so they should polish decently I would think.

I use simple green HD diluted 4:1, Does a fantastic job on chrome. I use 0000 steel wool on stubborn spots and excessive brake dust.

Take extreme care:
Chromium plating is only ~ 0.000001"-0.00005" thick.
Its purpose is to protect the underlying bright nickel plating.
Again:
It's best to never try to "polish" Decorative Chrome...
especially with too abrasive of a product.
Also:
Clay is an abrasive product.

Re: Chrome wheel cleaner?
I use Maguires none acid tire and wheel cleaner. It's concentrated so you can diluted It as needed. As a sealant OPTi Seal works well for me and my factory chrome wheels.
As for brake dust try switching to ceramic brake pads. I haven't had to clean break dust for about three years now.

Re: Chrome wheel cleaner?
Okay I understand now. But with that being said that I shouldn't polish they are looking a bit dull kinda like and oxidized hazy look.. And just normal washing and even wheel cleaners I've used haven't helped with it so what would you suggest to do?

Re: Chrome wheel cleaner?
When I have to polish chrome, I use a gentle chrome polish and do it very gently by hand with a microfiber towel. I have seen the results of machine polishing with a heavy metal compound that was intended for aluminum. At the same time, I saw the sick look on my neighbor's face when he found out how much a set of original OEM wheels would cost for his Corvette.
