Re: A little overwhelmed with my boat

yea it looks like based on what everyone is telling me I may be better off trying a rotary for the oxidation. hopefully if I remove the oxidation and then use the PC for regular wax application I wont ever have to do this again.

How often do you guys apply wax? every 4-6 months?

Re: A little overwhelmed with my boat

I waxed it before I put it in the water in May. While I was on vacation in July, I waxed only above the rubrail, and then waxed it again when I just took it out last weekend after the acid wash/soap wash/polish. I might not have "needed" to, but it really looked good.

Most people I talk to are really surprised when I tell them the boat is 24 years old.

ok, I have always applied a thin coat every 4-5 months. I will be taking special care once I'm done all the correction.

I completely agree with everyone that a rotary with a wool pad is the only way to go. I recently worked on a horribly oxidized 23 Larson. A DA just doesn't generate the heat/friction to remove the oxidation. If you are looking at different products for your boat take a look at Performance Boat Candy. I have come to love their products and they make them stupid simple. Extreme Compound, Compound, Polish, Gloss, Spray Detailer. They have a step by step PDF guide to follow. If you want take a look. They also have vinyl cleaner and conditioner
