Polisher maintenance
I recently purchased a used Rupes 21. It works fine, however, the exterior is filthy. The machine has some scuff marks on the backing plate, polish in the crevices, etc. I already own a few polishers and while they are not perfect, they look clean. I was wondering what you guys use to clean your machines with?

Re: Polisher maintenance
Thanks for the reply dragan75. I think it is passed the point of being cleaned with compressed air. I sprayed a mf with water and it temporarily removed the residue but it came back once dry. I am not sure if there is any other liquid I can use that will not damage any components.

I once cleaned my polisher with goof off , it worked fine or maybe you can try giving it a wipe of an APC .

Re: Polisher maintenance
I am actually thinking of coating my polishers so that I can clean it easier. The oil in our hands can decrease the value because the appearance of the polisher will look old.

Re: Polisher maintenance
I give mine a wipe down with a microfiber towel misted with Optimum No Rinse in a trigger bottle diluted for clay lube.
Periodically I'll disassemble the Rupes, and give it a thorough cleaning. When I'm using their compound with theirbmicrofiber pads, things can get a bit dusty, and how the machine is designed, everything goes through the slots in the microfiber pad, through the chambers in the backing plate, and through the side vents of the spindle housing.
It's an amazing design!
