Thread: M205 or SF4500?

    Here's my 2 cents...

Clearcoated white is one of the most forgiving color there is so M205 is more than enough to do any clean-up work after Uber Compound and like everyone else has said, Uber Compound finishes down really nice to start with using good technique and most important... cleaning your pad often before the last final passes.

    As for an LSP?

I think a paint coating is really a good option to maximize gloss and shine because that's about all you can get out of white... you can't get deep, dark reflections...

Gloss comes from a smooth surface so focus first on getting the paint as flat and smooth as possible and then tackle the below surface defects like swirls and scratches.

Here's a white finish wit a coating on it....

Good luck and already looking forward to your after-the-show follow-up post.

Thanks again guys for all the suggestions!!

Hump...I remember reading about the smack technique and will give that a try. I really do love how Uber finishes down, and for my own DD it was where I stopped because it looked that good!!

Mike...I was originally going to go with a spray sealant like BFCS or something similar, but after using the DP paint coating about a dozen times now I think I will go with your suggestion of a coating. Especially since the DP coating looks exceptionally good the first few days after coating and I already have it.

Silverfox/BobbyG...thanks for the heads up on the DG 501. It will be in my next order for sure. It seems like it will be a nice supplement to D151 specifically for 1-steps on white cars. If it wasn't for the dealership going to town on his car I could have skipped compounding altogether and done this instead.

Yep, that is what I was talking about. And Mike has a great point about white, you can blind people with a white car.

I use both products, have hard clear coat, metallic dark gray finish, and I find the SF4500 produces a little extra clarity after using M205. It's subtle, and I'm not sure it's worth the extra effort, but it's there.

    Agreed.

M205 is on level with SF4000 in terms of performance. i.e. cut and clarity.

SF4500 pushes that envelope past the capabilities of M205 and SF4000.

Got the car done yesterday. Really happy with the results. I will be doing a full write up sometime in the next couple days. Haven't heard if the car won its class yet, but I am confident that it will.

Surprised more people arent saying use duragloss. Especially if he is willing to buy something new. Its $12 a bottle car quest or napa. And its incredible on white paint. Perfect for a car show
