What sealant/wax for matte paint finish?
Hi guys,
Can you recommend a specific paint sealant to be used on a matte/flat paint finish?
I am dealing with 3-piece wheels that have a polished lip and matte black centers. I don't want to use a normal sealant and give the centers unintended gloss or shine. They are finished this way from the factory, so it's not a rattle can paint job.
Also, can you use Iron-X on matte finished wheels?

Usually there's a quick response. Part of the reason I just go solo now. I dig some people's responses, but I'm good by myself. (until I need help)
Sorry I couldn't answer your question.

Honestly I use jetseal. It doesn't make it very glossy at all. And seems to last a couple months.

I'm wondering if opti-seal would work. the formula is supposed to be non-staining and can be used on plastic trim without darkening it.

so its likely your dealing with powdercoating. For my powedercoated HRE's I use used Cquartz to seal them up. After I wiped it off and it cured you cant even tell its applied. I know for sure because I only did 1 wheel to see how different the dirt accumulation was.
You can also use EXO. You can use opti-seal or anything that doesnt stain trim. While applying the product its gonna darken the finish , but once it cures that will drop off to the regular look. Any non staining sealant is not gonna make matte look glossy. Its gonna darken it though.
I used Cquartz on these matte wheels and it did not make them glossy or change the finish at all. It really didn't even darken them once it cured. So that would be my official recommendation.

Thanks for the help.
I'll just go ahead and put some Wolf's Hard Body on them and see what happens. I'll try it on the back side of the wheel first to see if it gives any unneeded gloss or staining before I do the front of the faces.
