    Black car and truck

I have a 2007 VW beetle and a 2010 Silverado. The black paint shines on both but has a lot clear marks in it. I used clay bar, compound with my PC DA with the orange pad. and removed some but I can't get that new paint look. What am I missing to get that perfect look. It looks great if you don't put a light directly on it.

    Re: Black car and truck

I am using meguiars ultimate compound on 5 or 5.5. It just won't cut enough. I get a good shine but it won't get the wash marks and swirls out. Do I need to step it up to a more course compound? Like ultra cut compound 105? The process is wash, clay compound, scratch X then wax. As you can see in the pictures the truck looks great but when you see it in the sun you can see all the lines.

I would step it up if thats not working. If you use M105 you'll have to follow it up with a finishing polish like 205. You could always try Menzerna Power Finish which MIGHT remove the defects, it just depends on the paint.
