Dr. Colorchip (before, during and after)

These are from May of this year, after I had my paint correction done. We realized I had many small rock chips, and some areas that were sprayed with debris from the roadway. When my Trailblazer SS was my daily driver, I cringed when I would hear stuff hitting the truck when on the highway, especially behind big trucks.

During the paint correction process, Rob at Glimmer Glass Detailing told me about this stuff called Dr. Color Chip. He said he used it a lot previously and said it works wonders. I went ahead and bought the kit from the website (Dr.ColorChip Custom Automotive Touch-Up Paint Kit - Dr. ColorChip: Automotive Paint Chip Repair Systems) It's cool because it gives you correct matching color for your paint, and it includes this product called "Seal Act Blending solution."

The process began after the truck was washed, and the previous wax/sealant was removed from the appropriate areas. Here's some pictures of the damaged areas. the pics arent great, but it shows most of the damage.

i meant to take pics of the fenders where it was more smaller chips, like sprayed areas, the ones i had didnt come out good.

After you find the chips or spots you want to repair, the kit comes with a little brush to apply the paint.

here's some areas where you can see the paint right after it was applied

the areas where there was a lot of tiny little chips, the paint was applied with a soft cloth and spread out over the damaged areas:

After the paint is applied, it needs time to cure. Being that it was 3 million degrees and the humidity was like 200%, the process went faster then expected on most areas. Once the paint is done, then the magic happens.

The trick to this stuff is the paint obviously clings to the tiny rock chips. It is able to fill in the smallest ones with ease. It was hard seeing black paint get smeared all over the front bumper and fenders, but i dealt with it.

The seal act stuff is then applied, which removes the paint only from the surfaces that are clear coated. which means, the areas with the chips, remain filled in with the paint.

    Great results. Nice work.

Isn't it a strange feeling to be smearing paint all over your truck?!?! haha, I had to fight it at first until I saw that it really does work great. I did it on a black car as well. I really like this stuff.

I did not believe it until i tried it. This stuff is magic. Smearing it on the paint did worry me, lol. But once i saw the end result, i was impressed to say the least.

I would order it, just to fix one chip, because you never know when you will get another paint chip. especially if you do a lot of driving.

i still have the bottle and the supplies to do any touch ups if i need to.
