Me too. Only after washing weekly. The finish is still clean which greatly reduces the chance of marring.

It all depends how DO (detail oriented) you are. Mike P. likes that phrase.

If my car is relatively clean, I will do it every day.

I use DP Waterless Wash first and follow up with QD if there is that much dust/dirt. Better safe than sorry IMO.

I would use a new microfiber too.

    Spray Detailers are for removing,

    • Light dust
    • Fingerprints
    • Smudges
    • Clay Lubricant

    ......

What about removing a few bugs from the front of your car after a drive?

I love this stuff for removing a FEW bugs from the front of my car after a drive. That is the only thing I use it for (only on an already well maintained finish), but I sure love it for that purpose. Plus it smells SOOOO GOOOOD I have an almost uncontrollabe urge to lick the grill after an application.. (plus its a BOGO now)...I DONT use it as a QD, thats what FK-425 is for...

DP Waterless Auto Wash lets you wash your vehicle without water! Waterless car wash

Sure you can use a spray detailer to remove bug splatter from the front of your car after a drive.

    Did you mean,

Can you remove dried bug splatter safely from the front of your car without instilling any scratches?

    Or

Can you remove dried bug splatter from the front of your car?

If the bug splatter is dried on like glue then simply misting some spray detailer onto the splatter and wiping might also require RUBBING.

For some people and their grocery getters, that might be acceptable. On the extreme side of the spectrum, for someone with their prized possession, (fill in the blank), that might not be acceptable.

    Everyone's different.

I like the wet wash rag held against a single bug splatter to re-liquefy the dried splatter or the wet beach towel held against the frontend of car to re-liquefy the dried bug splatter so you don't have to scrub the paint, potentially instilling swirls and scratches.

If you have dried on bug splatter, typically on the front of your car where they impact, and you want to loosen and remove the splatter without having to scrub the area with force as so not to instill any scratches into your finish, what you need to do is to soften or re-liquefy the dried bug guts.

Take a wash rag and saturate it with water or your car wash solution.

Place the wet wash rag on top of the dried bug splatter and allow it to sit for a few minutes. A variation of this would be to use warm/hot water.

To speed up the process, apply some gentle pressure while drinking a cold soft drink and if need be, hum or whistle a little diddy.

Another variation of this would be to apply some Bug and Tar Remover to the wet wash rag before applying it to the dried bug splatter.

After a few minutes have passed give the area a gentle wipe-off and the bug splatter should remove easily. Then either wash the car as normal or wipe the area down with a quick detailer.

A variation of the above but for a larger area would be to use a larger cloth such as a bath towel. Saturate a clean, soft 100% cotton towel with water and place it over the affected area.

Mike, thanks for all the great info. I'm going to read through it a little closer as it looks like theres a couple things I can learn there.

I meant getting it off as soon as you finish a drive. I don't let the bugs dry. I have a bottle of Optimum at my work for the days when Skybaby wants to go with me (no rain in the forecast) and I get the bugs off right then or if on the weekend I go for a drive I get the bugs off as soon as I get home. It's usually just a bug or 3 and I don't let them dry. Personally I haven't had any problems instilling any swirls in this manner

Can't wait to check this stuff out! Is it's anti-static properties noticeable better than optimum?
