    Cold clay bar

We microwave our clay bar to knead it during winter months. Curious if anyone else does this or has a different method.

Put it in your pocket to warm it up. Microwaving seems like overkill. It could get molten hot.

Yeah, that sounds like a good plan, to maybe perhaps have a small bucket or pan of warm-hot water, whether indoors or out as needed.

Pop into a zip-lock baggie, place in the water for a couple minutes, take a short break to re-group, maybe have a sip or two of a beverage, etc, and go at it again.

Probably a good idea to spray a bit of clay lube in the baggie first, and the clay a bit, so the clay comes out without needing a putty knife. :-)

    Re: Cold clay bar

What I do is if I need to clay in the winter time, I've already done a rinseless wash but I always use hot water for a rinseless wash, it's like a treat for your hands. I just dump the claybar in the clean rinseless wash solution and let it sit for a few minutes so it softens up. The extra lubrication that the clay soaks in is pretty good too. It also works out cause I just use a sponge and squeeze wash solution onto paint as lubrication, or dunk a spray bottle into it. Saves me from having to buy detailing spray or dedicated clay lubricant.

Hot water in a little bucket for 3-5 minutes. It will get harder again if used on a cold panel, so you do need to keep reheating occasionally.
