EXO changing color of Dr Colorchip

I'm sorry I don't have any pics to post yet. Working on a dark gray 2015 Impala. The Dr Colorchip looked almost black in the bottle. I repaired a couple scratches and about 50 paint chips. Looked great, couldn't see where I repaired the chips at all. I could see the scratches because I was looking for them. This morning I applied EXO, I used Panel Wipe right before I applied it. Car is finished and now the Dr Colorchip is bright silver. Has anyone else had EXO change Dr Colorchip change colors after applying EXO??

Are you sure it wasn't the Panel Wipe that did it? I've found IPA to remove fresh touchup paint to some degree. It doesn't take much to monkey with the flake and change the appearance.

It could have been, it was at 4:30 this morning. I'm pretty sure I would have noticed the bright silver when I was applying the Dr Colorchip.
Since the paint is designed to have the surface removed during the repair, and I've added mineral spirits to their blending solution in the past for faster removal of product I wouldn't think that would do it, but not completely ruling it out.

I've never used Dr. Colorchip, but you know the flake settles during the drying process, so removing the surface when it's wet is different than removing the surface when it's dry.

    Hi Dave,
I know there was another recent thread about this touch up system, where another member said they had problems with the use of Iron-X as well.

I'd reckon a call to the Dr. C-Chip folks might answer or perhaps comment on one probable cause, and that is if adding mineral spirits to their Sealact Solution is OK or not?

You could perhaps do a little experiment yourself if you still have these paints on hand, and simply apply to a test surface to check. One spot with nothing done to the paint, then other spots where you have done the other processes to.

How long did you wait after the repair? You're supposed to wait at least a week before detailing the area.
