Re: DIY LED Work Light (much better than halogen!)
this whole set up is now a recommended bundle on amazon, I clicked the link for the light sockets and when I scrolled down the stand the bulbs were bundled, everything for $57 bucks and that's with 4 bulbs

They should call it “The McGovern light package”. That is neat. I’ve seen dozens, if not hundreds of posts with other detailers using Zach’s lights and I still haven’t ordered the lights. What’s wrong with me?

Just finished reading this entire thread. WOW!! Nice job Zack!
Drove to my local HD and picked up my bulbs and ordered the other parts off Amazon.
Again, nice job man!

Amazon.com: TORCHSTAR 18W Dimmable PAR38 LED Light Bulb, Energy Star UL-listed Spotlight, 120W Equivalent, 5000K Daylight, 1100LM for Stage, Scene, Event, Residential, Commercial, General Lighting, Pack of 4: Home Improvement
These are the ones I used on my "2nd version"... and they are still working the same as they were over 3 years ago

I just noticed there is 3000k option.
Which is the best kelvin for coating and correction? I have the 5k as per this thread recommendation

I’ve always felt that “daylight” color spectrum shows many more defects than warmer color temps. So 5000-6000K is a good place to be at for inspection lighting based on my experience.

Any new gear updated setups like the ones OP started , for brighter lighting when working on our cars?
