Re: Cut comparison between Meg 105, D300 & UC
How about longevity of Meg cutting disc in comparison to LC foam pads?

some have had issues with the velcro backing separating from the pad, but I don't think it's a huge issue with all of them. as for the face of the pad there are some people that have had the original ones from testing for well over a year with 20 uses. I don't think longevity or durability is an issue with the MF pads.

Re: Cut comparison between Meg 105, D300 & UC
Looks like I'll be getting the Meg cutting discs and D300 for my spring detail. Thanks for the replies. I detailed my car this past weekend and was frustrated by how long it was taking to correct with UC and an orange flat pad. Seems like D300 might be the way to go.

Meg's BP is actually made by Velcro (brand) and same goes for their pads. On another forum Kevin Brown goes deeper into explaining more than what BP to use with the Megs pad but why, the cut, the temp etc also.

I've never had a problem using my LC backing plate with the pads, and I've always gotten the desired results. I personally think it's all just marketing to buy their (more expensive) backing plate.

Could you provide a link? I'd rather not get a new BP since the one I have is less than 3 months old.

Mark, I recall reading not too long ago that you werent impressed with UC cutting ability. If on a 10 scale 105+orange pad provide a 9 cut, where would D300 with its appropriate discs fall and UC with orange pads?

UC isn't a bad product, don't get me wrong. It's very user friendly and has decent cut for a compound.
MF/D300 = 10+
Orange/M105 = 9
Orange/UC = 7

Wow---and I hear that D300 is more user friendly than 105. I have a Griots DA and am now looking forward to D300! Does it finish down nicely like UC does?
