Does the steel head on your FLEX 3401 get hot?

For Flex 3401 users ... Anyone else see this?
Is it normal? Anyone know what causes it? Should I be concerned?
Performance hasn't been affected but after every Detail it's really hot..

Yes, mine does, I think it's normal- although I could be wrong- I just make sure the felt ring is lubricated-

It is aluminum and they chose aluminum for it's great ability to dissipate heat. If it was made of steel the plastic gears would surely melt down. I have been blistered from touching the aluminum gear housing.

Re: Does the steel head on your FLEX 3401 get hot?

It does get hot but the plastic cover creates a barrier between "it" and your hand, it's designed to perform this way. If you look closely you'll see a gap between the metal housing and the plastic guard. This allows constant air flow and an aid in cooling...
