What Type of Wheels Do I Have?

Dear Friends

I apologize for asking such an elementary question, but based on my reading of Mike's Art of Detailing, if I make a product-choice mistake, I could ruin my wheels.

I have a 2012 Honda Odyssey EX-L with stock wheels (image), which are aluminum-alloy. From Mike's list of five wheel types, I don't know if mine are factory painted, uncoated metal, a combination of coated and uncoated, or anodized.

Would someone help me identify the type of wheels I have and suggest a wheel cleaner?

DP wheel cleaner and a wheel brush will do a great job cleaning those wheels. Follow with DP wheel glaze to protect and keep the wheels cleaner longer.

Those are similar to the wheels I have on a 08 4 Runner.

DP Wheel Special combines some of our best wheel maintenance products. I just used the kit today and was very impressed with its cleaning ability on 4 runner wheels and uncoated aluminum wheels.

Most cleaners will say they are safe for all wheels or only certain ones

Coated .... use P21S, Sonax, Griots or DP without issue. Always clean while cool.

Seal them with Blackfire Metal Sealant and you won't need a wheel cleaner. Just use soap and water and light agitation.

They are coated. Use something like P21s or Sonax and you will be fine. Seal them after you clean them and it will be easier to clean. Once sealed you should only need soap and water if you keep them maintained.

Is the Wolfgang metal sealer just as good as Black Diamond? The Wolfgang product is available in a smaller size for a much lower price.

If you insist that Black Diamond is superior, I'll go ahead and splurge.

I think I'll go with toycar's suggestion. The kit he linked to includes a glaze, which the description says is a sealant. It looks like a good value.

The best wheel sealant I have used(other than Opticoat), is KSG, a couple of coats lasts months. It is also a good headlight sealant(not as good as Opticoat).
