Re: New 5 inch pads for the 4" Backing Plate on Flex 3401
Thankyou, Thank you, Thank you!!!! Working with 3.5 -5 inch pads is essential and this fills the gap. Now my hydo collection will be complete and no longer have any gaps.

There is no Flex 4" backing plate. It's 4-3/8". The pictures above show the LC adaptor.

Re: New 5 inch pads for the 4" Backing Plate on Flex 3401
Why not a 5 inch backing plate, so i can use my existing 5.5 pads? (which I have a ton of??) The 4 inch or 4 3/8 bp is too small.
This is one reason I haven't got a Flex yet.

Now look at the fourth pic down in this promo thread: The System That Flex XC3401 Users Have Been Waiting For, by Lake Country. See how far the pad is from the base of the polisher? That's what is wrong with adaptors in general. They are add-ons. In this case it looks like they move the pad about 3/4" farther away from polisher base than a native Flex backing plate. That will affect handling.
Do you know of any independent reviews of that LC system? I can only find one and it wasn't that independent. The manufacturer provided a pre-release product to someone.
Do you have that system for your 3401? Share your reaction to it?

I cut my stock 3401 plate down to 4 7/8" on a metal cutting lathe. A perfect solution plus I bought several extra plates before the price went up. The 3401 is a powerful machine. Seems to me to be a waste to use any pad smaller than 5 1/2" 4" pads spin fine and are easier to control on a PC or a GG. I won't be adding 4 1/2" pads to my inventory.

Atoy,
AFAIK, there is no native (non-adaptor) 4" LC backing plate for the Flex 3401. I hope you prove me wrong. I'm want to buy one. I'm looking forward to your review.

Dan.

It"s interesting that no one produced a review on LC 4" and 6" plates yet.

Is the "slant" cut at less of an angle than the 6.5" Hybrid pads?
