Someone above mentioned Aquapel. I have used other types of glass sealants (RainX, Carlack, RainClear) or just a regular paint wax or sealant and the ice comes off much easier and I would have to think leads to less risk of scratching.
Something else that works, the night before, put something on your windshield and just remove it before you leave for the morning. I have seen people use an extra set of plastic/rubber car mats. The next morning they take them off and have two large areas with no ice. Looks somewhat trashing having floor mats on your windshield but it does work.
