    Re: Best all around pads

    Hi Guys,

I'm pretty much down to nothing (PADS) for my ancient G110, uses 6.5" Velcro, attached. Seems the most popular is LC:

    I have:

CG Black Wax, & soon Collinite 456 wax - What LC pad should I consider?

CG V36, V38, Meg M205, soon Menzerna (sf4000), Polishes - What LC pad?

I would assume that a polishing pad, would be acceptable for a Glaze, I don't need a cutting pad.

Also what's the dif between Finishing & Finessing pad

    Thanks
    Rico

The hybrid pads are the best I have ever used. Have a flex.

Went back and used a ccs pad and was disappointed after making the hybrid my go to pads.

    Hi Spewking,

Glad the hybrid pads worked for you

This does not answer or help with my question, so perhaps this just gen. info?

For that machine you might want to try Meguiar's foam discs. Black for the waxes, and yellow for the polishes. Oh, and Burgundy for the v36.

I believe the finessing pad is designed to get the maximum shine out of paint, and finishing might be for sealing/waxing. I could be wrong. They may be terms that are used interchangeably.

My personal preference is the Lake Country Hydrotech line. I love that I don't need as much product, or pressure with them, as they're fairly rigid. They cut well, and finish beautifully.

You may also consider a 5" backing plate, to maximize the performance of your machine.

Lake Country Hydo-Tech Foam Pads, hydrotech polishing pads, pads for water-based polishes, buffing pads

    HI DLC95,

My G110 backing plate is 5" diameter, previous pads, were Meg Black & TN, then CG's Hex logic, not a big fan of CG's pads.

How do you know, what waxes, polishes, & glazes are water based? Are all them water-based?

    Thanks
    Rico

Agree with dlc95--the new Megs THIN pads would be best with the G110. Since less mass to rotate it will make the machine more effective.

Ok, good. 5.5" pads will work on a 5" plate.

I do enjoy the green, blue, and red hex logic pads, but it depends on what type of paint, machine and chemical I'm working on.

I prefer the Hydrotech because they work in more situations.

I'm not sure how to tell what's water based other than asking the manufacturer or asking in a new thread here on the forum.
