I'm reading between the lines. I need to try a flex!

I've learned how to keep the pad spinning for the most part, but maybe the Flex would be easier and faster. Dang, I was thinking about a rotary next.
The Flex is a lot better. When you really notice just how much better it is is when you go from using the Flex for awhile and you try to go back to the pcxp!

Personally I would get a Flex before a rotary. My rotary still has its place and gets used, but not nearly as much as my Flex.

I use 4'' and 5.5'' pads with my PC. The 4'' orange LC pads seem to be the most effective with the PC

I am so glad I bought a new Griot's instead of the PC; SO much MORE power!

I've tried both, and the Griot's definitely has more power. However, the pad will stop spinning on curves just like the other RO's(G110v2, PCXP, etc..). This is what separates the Flex 3401 from them, the pad won't stop spinning!!!!!

I just got my PCXP two weeks ago and realized how slow it is just to do a small area (2' X 2') and how it can bog down when applying pressure. I recently ordered a Makita (will be here tomorrow). If I like the Makita (which I'm sure I will), I may return the PCXP.

Re: I don't get it (about Porter Cable kits)...

Its simple actually...the smaller pads are for when you may need a little more cutting power/preasure..but the slightly larger pads cover more area and most of the time you are supposed to let the pad/machine do the work and ease up on the amount of force required. For me the pads are job specific. Purchase whatever pads you DON'T have in order to do that specific job.
