Uro-fiber and Low-Pro pads. Issue with shrinkage
Has anyone else had an issue with the exact fit Buff & Shine 5" uro-fiber pads or the 5.5" Low-Pro pads shrinking after cleaning? It's driving me crazy because now I have a few pads where the overall diameter is no longer covering the entire backing plate! I've attached some picture and I'm hoping you guys will be able to see what I'm referring too. Now I guess I need to text Kevin Brown and figure out how to trim my rupes backing plates. I don't think anyone offers a Rupes 4 3/4" backing plate. All I've seen are 4 7/8" backing plates.

I haven't used them much, but haven't noticed any shrinking. Out if curiosity what are you using to clean them?

I let them soak in a bucket with a few ounces of 1z Blitz APC for a few hours (sometimes I'll forget and leave them soaking overnight) and then I typically just massage out the polish/compound or use a soft brush for the uro-fiber. If they are really bad I'll spray them with some OPC 3:1.

Uro-fiber and Low-Pro pads. Issue with shrinkage
I just looked at the ones I have. The uro fiber I used once and the uro tec I used a few times.
These are 5” on the LHR15 MKII.
Cleaned with Poorboys pad cleaner.
No shrinkage here lol

Re: Uro-fiber and Low-Pro pads. Issue with shrinkage
I had some of the pads they make for CG do that after some seriously long, and brutal use. They were my first d/a pads, and I used them for everything. Some of the blue pads went out of round!
I wouldn't be able to say with confidence what caused yours to do that though. A good friend of mine uses those two pads pictured in his shop quite often, and has never reported anything like that. Like I said, I have experienced it though.

Re: Uro-fiber and Low-Pro pads. Issue with shrinkage
I had been using dozen of both pad, there is only one URO Fiber Shrink, and it’s compltely my false. I throw it to my washing machine together with microfiber towel, wash them by forgetting to open water valve, so machine wash them with very little water and high microfiber wash solution. After that machine automatically heat dry the pad, all the polishing foam in that wash worn down, LC, Shinemate and URO Fiber.
In your case it could be long overheat buffing cycle before changing the pad. I think all foam material will shrink with overheat.
I am now cleaning all my pad using pressure washer in fanning mode and it’s great and super clean, just don’t do that with close cell foam.
