Megs MF vs Rupes MF
For those of you using MF pads, how do these two compare. Are the new Rupes MF pads any better than the cheaper Megs pads. I am going to be ordering the Rupes LRH15ES and probably the 75E next week and plan to order some MF pads with it. I already have some 5" Megs MF pads but need to order 3" pads with my order. So lets see some input on these guys.

I have use the Rupes yellow and blue MF pads on all of my Rupes polishers with tremendous satisfaction.
Are they "better" than Meg's?
(1). I have learned the very painful way to stick with Rupes pads on Rupes polishers. Others will cry foul on this and that's okay.
(2). They run much cooler.
(3). They are far more durable.
(4). This might be just me, but they seem to consume much more polish. Prime them to death when starting, then check them often to make sure they are clean and "loaded".
These pads really bring out the full potential of polishes! Awesome!

How do the rupes MF pads perform on curves? They look like they might be a little 'stiff' without any foam padding.

They actually have a little padding, not stiff at all, work fine for me on curves. Order one and try it

I think the Meg's MF cutting pads cut better than the Rupes MF pads in my initial testing. However, the Rupes MF pads are very smooth with my Duetto

Are you using the Rupes polishes with the Rupes pads or different brand of compound/polish with the pads?

I have tried the blue microfiber pad with:
- Menzerna FG400
- Rupes Zephir (blue)
- Scholl Concept's SE3 Gold
Really, the results are almost identical but in my opinion; I give Zephir the edge in correction ability, FG400 the edge in final appearance, and Scholl Concepts the "balanced" edge in both. (Note these results are very different from the Rupes blue foam pad, where Scholl Concepts wins hands down.)
I have tried the yellow microfiber pad with:
- Rupes Quarz (green)
- Rupes Keramik (yellow)
- Sonax Perfect Finish
- Menzerna Power Finish
Rupes Quarz wins hands down here. Amazing correction ability and very good final appearance. Rupes Keramik did not correct nearly as well but gave a very good+++ final appearance. Sonax Perfect Finish and Menzerna Power Finish gummed up the pads very badly, as to be expected. (Note these results are very different from the Rupes yellow foam pad, where Sonax Perfect Finish wins hands down.)
Other:
- Tests were done on bone-granite-hard Mercedes paint.
- I polish very slowly which definitely skews results.

Thank you, my dilemma is whether I should invest in Rupes pads for my mini. I currently have 4" LC hydros but opinions of Rupes pads on Rupes polishers has created unwanted chatter in OCD land lol
