Thumbs Down on LC HT Pads

Just used the cyan with Meg UC. Pad cut ok but the nap is too tight to properly grab my backing plate. In fact, the pad wouldn't stay on at speed 5 on my PC DA. I'm going back to Meg pads.

Foam pads dont have nap so im a little confused on that statement. What machine were you using? What size was the pad? What kind of paint were you working with? Have you considered replacing your backing plate since the pads wont stick to it?

CM8 6MT has been nudging me to get Megs pads for some time now. Just placed an order for them this mourning. It was a toss up between Megs and LC HT's! Now I know....

lol this is like the 3rd thread i read about how bad LC pads are. meg's are awesome pads so are their MF pads. Buff n shine make great foam pads too, i would stay away from LC. about the only ones that have worked for me are the hybrid pads

The LC HT foam pads have a white cloth backing that attaches to to the backing plate. The cloth on the Meg pads is nappy (fuzzy) and really grabs the backing plate. You have to work to peel it off. My HT's are 5.5" low profile and my backing plate is a Meg 4.5". There is only about 1/4" between the OD of the backing plate and OD of the "attaching" cloth on the back of the HT so the contact area is pretty good. I was working on my Toyota with clear coat/metallic paint. I would rather get Meg pads than buy a new backing plate which may or may not work any better than the one I have now. The LC HT pads are pretty cheesy compared to Meg...just my opinion.

I have to really put forth some effort to separate my Hydrotechs from the LC backing plate. 5"bp and 5.5" pads. I have been nothing but pleased with all Lake Country pads, however I haven't tried Meg's since I haven't felt the need to.

I purchased my hydro tech pads after ready Corey's review on them. I have had really good results with them but only use the Cyan and Tangerine.
