    Recessed Velcro on Foam Pads??

Is there any safety advantage to recessed Velcro like on the Lake Country Hydro pads?? Does it offer any protection against paint damage should the edge of the pad come in contact with the paint??

IMO that's where the pad tears. I like the Hydro Tech Pads, but they are not very durable.

I have a couple Hex Logic pads and they utilize the same velcro on the back. When the pad heated up the backing plate would move off the backing of the pad some and then it would cut the foam part. Only happens with these types of pad when heavy compounding/polishing in my experience.

thanks!! Do you think it was because of the foam type creating heat or because of the recessed Velcro??
