Boss MF pad issue
Has this happen to anyone else? I used this on the G21, and GG6. I use no pressure, just weight of machine to polish. Ive ripped up a few pads. The last one I ripped up was testing how it happens on a hood, one handed on speed 4.5 G21. I could see red foam flying out of the pad. So that eliminates heat, and pressure.

Any thoughts, or is this just what it is?

Re: Boss MF pad issue
Did you prime pad enough, full priming microfiber pad is a must and it must not be4/5 prime but full. Also did you clean it up on every after a section polishing?

I would recommend contacting Griot's - I've had good luck with their customer service. Might have some ideas on why it's happening, or at the very least be able to start the process for getting yours exchanged.

Looks to me like you might have the wrong size pad/backing plate combo?

Re: Boss MF pad issue
I use BOSS pads exclusively with the whole system......looks like too much product and/or not cleaning pad out after every section. I had a few do this....started using air to blow out pads and have had no issues. The other thing it could possibly be it edging up against an emblem or ??...causing it to tear into the side of the pad. Either way..contact them...https://www.griotsgarage.com/categor...information.do

In addition to what Mike states, how often are you changing out your pads? You could be generating too much heat build-up, which is why I use 6 to do a vehicle.

Pad has been primed as always, there are no issues with any other pads or even other MF pads with my priming technique. Clean as need with air aswell

As I mentioned above. I tried a few things to see what I was doing. This pad shown was one section of 4 passes with boss FC cream. New pad, did not even use the machine yet that day. And I use air to blow all my pads after 2 or so sections and MF after every section.

Pad change is as needed to be honest. Some is 2 panels some is 1 panel.

As mentioned This perticular pad was used on a hood to test how it happens, Nothing sharp in sight unfortunately

They only thing I can see is when the pad in on the machine and resting it sets into the foam so the backing plate it tearing it. Ill see if I can get a picture. I do all my edging for the most part with a 4in pad never a long throw either.
To me it seems like the foam on these are just not good. But I wanted to hear from others because maybe there is something I missed.

Re: Boss MF pad issue
This is the pad being help up but resting
Me letting it rest without the handle touching basically. You can see that it folds into itself and touches the backing plate. This is the backing plate from GG thats a 5in. Maybe Im just not cut out for this particular pad lol
Side note happens on both my G15 and G21. I recently purchased the 3in pads and put them on 3in backing plate on my GG6. No issues at all with the foam on them.
