Mike Phillips has a similar comparison thread which will track longevity. I may or may not ditch this test in early June when I do my yearly correction.

Re: New Wolfgang Ceramics vs DPGS hood test!

In a separate (roof) test, which I did to provide me with further information about some recent poor test results:

I applied WG Ceramic Spray Coating (CSC) to the roof, next to other items I wanted to observe. After 5 days of garage sleep, I brought out the hose, spraying roof test cases with different sprayer settings. I applied these during warmer days so they were curing in warmer weather across the board. I recorded the event but license plate was viewable so I’m not sharing.

As a result of the new comparisons on the roof, I observe:

WG CSC sheets better than on the hood. It is a tad behind CanCoat, but I had to stare at video for a bit to conclude this. (They are side-by-side on middle roof). WG CSC looks to be equal with PBL Surface Coating (located on a back section of roof on a different angle, so I’m taking my best guess). Also in the back section was 2 coats of Synergy and 2 coats of Dodo Nano which are also on par in this early going. The 5 products mentioned in this paragraph are performing how I would expect... maybe due to warming weather? My prep was less than previous tests, only using prep polish.

In the tradition of crappy test results, I also have a coat of Viking Spritz on the roof which sheets crappy in my test. I will add a second coat to see if it’s my bottle being old or another potential application issue.

Could you do the new WG Sio2 sealant vs OG sealants like Colly 845 or Powerlock?

I could do that... flat-surface-real-estate and desire to correct my cars in early June are the biggest obstacles... but at this point I’m considering keeping roofs on a separate correction schedule than other panels, to allow tests to go on. Could probably do something on the wife’s roof, albeit there’s not much painted surface to test a lot of OGs.

Which OGs you want besides 845 and Powerlock?

I assume your first one is “FK1000p” rather than FK425 quick detailer. I have all of those listed and more. I may include Colly 915 and 476 too.

I’m going to wait for one more rain event and then polish off my Acura ceramic wax test panels OR make room on the wife’s car. I’ll decide and get this started by next weekend at latest.

In the meantime if anyone has any other OG sealant requests, let me know. Using roof and hood I assume I can fit 8-9 total excluding the WG SiO2 PS.

New Wolfgang Ceramics vs DPGS hood test!

    Update 4/25

Hood is looking good. No obvious loss of performance from anything. Lots of rain in the last 12 hours and quite a bit more coming this week.

    First pic is for reference:

    Afternoon during heavy rain:

As far as the roof, as mentioned a few posts up, it’s just a random assortment of products I wanted to compare.

A lot of large, standing beads on the middle roof because of gravity. I own one of the only flat driveways in Pittsburgh metro, so these always show up at the crest of each roof.

A few days ago I took up close pics of beads for the 4 products in the back of the roof:

    PBL Surface Coating

    Synergy

    Nano

    Viking Spritz

Viking Spritz has the most fancy, tall beads. Basically just like shown on their website. All products sheeting extremely well though.

Looking good so far. Does the 3 get any garage time or is it strictly outside?

And yeah, more rain to come for the next few days for sure.

The X5 regularly gets 50% garage time, splitting with my wife’s car (1 car garage). But since the start of the hood test, I would say that the X5 has been outside 80% of the time, and has been outside during every precipitation event since the hood test began. So for the purposes of this thread, it’s become mostly an outside car.
