Uni grit question

After years of removing orange peel by hand going through the grits 1500,2500 and 3000 I have finally started to use my da for this.

To say it's quicker is a understatement, what would normally take me over a week, I can now do in 3 days.

Went to my local paint store this week and brought some sanding discs, they did not have 1500 so I got 2500 and 3000.

The difference was amazing, but even after sanding the hood flat, from certain angels and distances, it still looks like it has some peel.

So my question is, I want to use the megs uni grit line, is there 1500 capable if removing orange peel completely?
Over here in the UK it's £70 so about $100 for 24 1500 grit discs.
Are they worth the money?
Do they last a long time?
How many do you use in a average car?

I'm a complete newbie, and followed Mike's advice for damp sanding. I had to step down to 2000 (which I could only find in dry sanding discs) and I think it's turned out great. I used 2000 dry, then 3000 and 5000 trizact. I posted some pics of the before and after and I was very pleased. I think it leveled it enough without having to drop to 1500. I do have some 1500 dry discs as well, so I may do a panel with 1500 then 2000 to see if there is better DOI.

I have used both.

Sanding yields a flatter result and takes a lot less time.

In my opinion sanding is actually safer.

If you choose Denim:

- Be patient, it is slow going

- Watch the heat

- Tape off body lines and edges. I suggest the 3M vinyl tape sat stands up to the Aggressive Denim Pads better

Denim can knock down OP, but sanding is required to create a mirror
