Soft Buff 2.0 cutting pad - still good?

So I have done two cars with the soft buff 2.0 cutting pad and it's starting to flake in the center. I have attached a photo. I'm wondering if you guys think it's still good to use or if it's shot.

    Thanks
    -Sam

I'd use it till it dies, and it starts to chunk more.

I have one that lost a few SMALL pieces off the edge from hitting a FORD badge, it's fine everywhere else though and I've used it without issue.

It looks like you've been overheating that one a bit in the middle--something to keep an eye on.

Seeing that SA has a point, you either want to use a bit more product, lower your buffer speed, clean or replace the pad more often or lighten up on the pressure a bit.

Yeah, right on the top of my head. The OP did say the pad was flaking in the middle, so I had help.

These cutting pads are known to disintegrate. The new ones are superior.

@zl1mark I thought these were the new ones, am I wrong?

@SetecAstronomy Thanks for the advice. I did a black VW touareg (hard paint) with this pads and was using high speeds and lots a pressure. Next time I have a car with similar properties I will try using more product.

I think he means the new thin cutting discs from Meguiars. They are getting rave reviews..
