Really not a fan of those pads. I would prefer the new Meguiars Foam Discs in this application. Pick up a few of the red cutting discs and the yellow polishing ones.

There are a couple important things that need to be understood/adjusted for optimal results when using HD Adapt.

-Paint type: hard or soft
-Pad type: cutting or polishing
-Machine type/Machine speed
-Number of passes
-Work area
^^^being conscious of and adjusting these variables will help you work through any potential issues you might encounter. All of these can/will play a vital role in your results. Keep in mind that Adapt uses both mechanical & chemical abrasives, so don't automatically assume that a cutting pad is needed for heavy defect removal. You'll be blown away how well a blue B&S pad via Rupes on speed 4 will level away heavy defects on soft paint! I tend to start with a mid range pad (green B&S) and adjust up or down from there. Also, don't prime your pad either. Only 3-4 small drops are needed for a normal 2x2 section. Make sure to use slow arm movements and let the product do all the work. If you run into removal issues, adjust product, work time and work area accordingly.

yeah i primed the pad cause that was what i was usually told to do when detailing. i am guessing its just for compound.

subaru paint is pretty soft.

usually i do 6 passes and i have been learning to adjust speeds when detailing and its been working really well w compound.

polish and glaze and sealant will be interesting.

i am just trying to do polish/glaze/sealant. so wondering red/white/black/green. but i did hear about the new megs foam discs.

I do most polishing with a blue hex logic pad. I would also use that pad with a dedicated glaze. Sealants get the red pad.

Actually, none of the polishes or compounds that 3D/HD offers suggests you prime your pad. It's just not necessary with the abrasives & lubricants they use in their formulations. It's actually counterproductive most of the time as it overloads the pad with product affecting the cutting and finishing power of the overall results. Plus, it creates dusting issues. 3-4 small drops of product on the very outside edge of your pad when using a DA polisher. (More with rotary/wool)

FWIW, I saw a recent video of Kevin Brown with Larry Kosilla and discussing the importance of priming or 'seasoning' the pad. I do not remember what products they were using but would imagine it was Meguairs.

It does have to be done correctly though. I made the mistake of over priming my pad on a test hood and it looked like whipped cream had splattered over the whole hood.

Yeah, it's typically a Meg's workflow (Kevin specifically), but doesn't necessarily mean it's as productive with other product lines.
