Re: Why isn't applying clear coat after wet-sanding or cutting standard auto detailing practice?

Glazes are oily products that fill microscopic defects in the paint. I doubt they will help in the case of a scratch. Also applying a LSP on top of it is pretty useless. The glaze will prevent the wax or sealant from bonding with the paint, so it will get removed very fast, along with the glaze.

Touch up paint is your best bet IMO. If you want to wetsand afterwards, be very careful, it's amazingly easy to go through clear coat on the edge of a panel.

If you bring it to a body shop, you will get the best result. The cost is of course much higher. Depending where you live, expect to pay between 400$ to 1000$ to re-paint a pannel.

I would have to repaint the car at that rate. Touch up paint and maybe touch up clear with 3000 to level. I'll try to post pictures, but I could use suggestions on free places to host pictures.

I'm going to post a new thread for this project, so no need to answer my questions here... sorry, should have done that up front.
