Re: new here,need advice
:welcome:to AGO Jeremy!
But... with that... BIG no no there Jeremy on that eBay link! No posting outside links. I suspect the Admin will remove that pronto, (and a scolding may follow). ;)
The price of your buffer is just PART of your investment in the future paint care of your vehicles. You will need at LEAST a dozen pads as well. Lake Country flat pads, 5˝" come in 6-packs. Many here would suggest 4 orange, 4 white, 2 blue 2 black. Or maybe even 6 white then 2 blue or black. The reason being... you will use orange and white pads MUCH more than you'll use anything else. The white ones especially, are good for both compounding and polishing, and will get a lot of use on both hard and soft paints alike.
Don't forget you'll need a couple dozen quality microfiber towels as well. I'd suggest something AT LEAST like a 365 GSM towel. Those can remove compound, polish, and sealant (LSP) as well as coatings. They'll last you for years of service as well.
Getting back to the buffer.
The Porter Cable is well respected, and pretty much the minimum that you'd want to invest in. That being said, you can find a 30% off coupon code for Advance Auto Parts that makes the Griot Garage 6 (GG6) buffer run down just over a hundred bucks which makes it much more preferable all things considered. :)
Autogeek WILL MATCH that price. :dblthumb2: Adding in the fact that the GG6 ships with an extra pair of motor brushes, AND a lifetime warranty makes it a great investment.
It also has more power than the PC, and can correct (as well as polish) anything you'll likely run across.
