A sanding block is what you attach your sandpaper to. No?

I have seen blocks (sold at HF) with sanding grit attached to them. They're sold in coarse, medium, and fine grits. Even the "fine grit" is rather course, however. Is that what you're talking about? Or are you talking about using sandpaper by hand, without attaching it to a sanding block?

Ron, I was planning to pick up a couple blocks on my next order which leads me to this, what ranges would you recommend for headlights? I was just going to use the 3M kit from a local auto parts store. Thanks for any advice.

Depending how bad, but normally start with 600 grit and work up. The higher the number (3000) the less to polish. If you are going to use a coating like Minwax stop at 1000 grit so the coating has something to bite. If you are going to use a paint sealant then polish to a glass finish.
