    when should respirators be used?

    as far as machine polishing should i use a respirator? and i cant seem t find a straight answer on this but is there any lead in modern auto paint?

    Hello Bullitt AK.
    I wrote an article about this a year ago. Hopefully it will answer your questions.

    Here it is:
    The Dangers of Detailing!

    As far as I know, there is no lead in domestic or imported automotive paint, but it might sneak in from some new car maker who don't watch their suppliers closely. Regardless I would still use a respirator.

    One Autogeek poster said there is lead in automotive paints.

    If you feel safer using one, go ahead. Far as I know there is no lead in modern auto paints.
