Bumped black satin trim with DA polisher, now glossy. How to fix?

This is on my 2003 Cobra. I was using the Meguiars M105/205 combo with a foam pad. When I finished the job, I noticed where I bumped the trim and made it glossier than the surrounding areas. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Maybe try a wax remover for trim and rubber. So you can see if you did any damage to the satin trim. If damaged the trim I don't know if it's anything you could do to save it. Maybe you could mask the difference with a trim protection product that gives you a higher gloss so it don't stand out as much.

As SWETM noted, it may just be some oils from the 205 that will wear off or you can remove. If you have actually polished that section to a higher gloss than the rest...one solution is to polish the whole piece to the higher gloss.

I have done this as well,,not being to familiar with Mustang trim is that metal or rubber?

either way I usually use a wax and grease remover, window,or rubbing alcohol dilluted with water

if it is damaged rubber trim sometimes you can use lacquer thinner on a white cotton rag and pull it across the section in 1 direction, not back and forth but I would only try this as a last resort .
I usually followup with a water based dressing

EDIT,,I have been goofing around with Rain X waterless wash on different things and found it handy for removing wax and compound splatter and residue of off of rubber and plastic surface,so if you have any waterless wash give that a try
