You can use Trizact by hand or machine.

Regular wet/dry sandpaper will not attach to a hook-n-loop backing plate.

It will attach to any velcro/hook backing plate. Technically you need a 6" backing plate, not a 5" and Meguiar's makes one specifically for machine sanding but any 6" will do. The Megs unit has tapered edges so it will bend back (a little) for sanding into curved areas.

Use without interface for knocking down orange peel

Use with interface for refining deeper sanding marks.

thank you mike! what speed on the PC would you sand with?

I recently bought a mini cooper whos hood was repainted.. the hood does not have orange peel but also looks very hazy even after a nice polish.. im hoping this will sand it nicely and then i can polish to make it look perfect!

With the PC you normally have to be on the 5 to 6 speed setting.

Here's the deal - you MUST maintain pad rotation. The PC is kind of weak and their speed controller inside the unit also doesn't work very well.

So while you don't want disc stall you also don't what to be grinding and that's the balance between speed setting 5 and speed setting 6.

So I tend to run the PC on the 5 to 5.5, it you have to run it at 6 to maintain pad or "disc" rotating then don't stay in one area for too long.

My guess is machine sanding followed by some compounding and polishing using any good brand name that uses great abrasive technology and you're going to be very happy with the results.
