I have been using a rubber pet hair remover brush to keep my carpeted floor mats clean. It is very quick and effective. I brush whatever I can onto the mat from surrounding areas, then remove the mat to the outside, hold it vertical, beat it with the back of the brush, then vigorously brush the mat. This keeps my mats looking like they were just vacuumed every day, but it only takes a few minutes. If there is a little debris on the carpet that cannot be easily brushed onto the mat I brush it to an area that will be under the mat. This can be removed when I have time to get the vacuum out.
