nasty door ding

I got my first door ding on my '14 VW Golf. I'll get a picture up ASAP. It's a ding and a scratch. The scratch is to the metal (or primer). I bought some VW touchup paint for now. The touch up has two parts the color pen and the clearcoat pen.

I realize to fix this properly will require a dint popper and repaint. But in the short term does anyone have any tips on applying the touchup paint? Will touchup paint keep rust from forming? Should I just bite the bullet and get it repaired properly and forgo the touchup paint? Thank you.

Go ahead and have the PDR done now

If you are in a larger city, you might be surprised how inexpensive it can be...especially on door dings ($50)

Do not touch-it up prior to PDR

Wax the spot to protect until PDR
