    50/50 Spar/spirits Headlight Job

Did the 50/50 spar/sprits Headlight method today. WORKED GREAT! First wet sanded 400,600,800,1000,1500,2000,3000 in straight lines. Wiped off with IPA, mixed 50/50 Spar/spirits, applied with scotts blue shop towel.... And amazing results!!!

My first application of the spar/spirits didn't go so well. I took too long applying it so I ended up with streaks. So wiped it off with the spirits and reapplied the mixture, this time a little quicker and wow...

Needless to say, I will be using and recommending this method from now on.

So is this method better than the Clearcoat in a rattle can that people were talking about a little while ago?

I haven't used that method, but I have read about it. The methods I previously used was with kits you get at auto zone. This is far better than them.

I'm not sure how it can be as durable, though. Seems to me it'll want to flake off fairly soon (compared to a hard lacquer clear coat applied to a roughened base).

It's my understanding that the rough base is actually better as it creates a better surface for it to bond to.
