    Ford Pickups/Expiditions

    Good Morning All!!!

    Question,

I have done 3 Fords this week, and they all have the same problem.. The rubber under the windows.. the black seems to be coming off.. I bought some mothers back to black yesterday for I couldnt find any other vinyl dressing

How do I make the black of the rubber to stop coming off? and one of them had little brown spots..

    Thanks,
    Cathy

    P.S. ya'll r wonderful!!!

    Mike,

one of them I will be able to take a picture of in the morning, the rubber is in tact
All 3 of the vehicles are probably pretty close to the same age 10-12 yrs old?

I really hate to take a scrub brush to them, like I said all the rubber is in tact, would hate the thought of scratching or taking a chunk out of one?

I have the same issue on my '03 Lightning. What I have done in the past is use Zaino on that trim. The black stuff still comes off, but at least it shines and protects it. I prefer that over the liquid stuff that rinses off and doesn't last very long. Every single Ford truck I have owned has done that. It's almost like they plan that part to be expendable and replaced. I'm sure the rubber starts to break down, especially on 8+ yr old vehicles.

Had an 2008 FX2 Sport Super Crew. I used an old soft beat up toothbrush with some diluted light APC after washing it down with my normal paint wash. Went over it with Gummi Pfledge and no more black residue. I imagine you could dress it with what ever protectant you wanted though
