Yep, and neither are the OPs. Just an observed "off label" use that it works well for.

If they were chrome, I would have said to use orange GoJo with pumice. This stuff will remove built up junk quick and doesn't seem to scratch chrome. The pumice will scratch painted wheels though.

This was after cleaning with DUB wheel cleaner.



GoJo will clean this up with very little work.



Yes, these wheels are already pretty fubared.

OP, did you ever have any luck with those wheels.

I did get IronX Snow Soap and have been playing around with it straight on a set of bad wheels. My own unfortunately.

Same deal with a spent pad and my wife did not say anything about it grinding. I thought the wheels were getting extra dirty and I had been neglected them for a while. If she is home, the kids are home and it makes getting anything done to the car a PITA. Last time I changed them I put aggressive pads on it, and will never do that again either.

The straight Snow Soap works but its slow. Its taken me three days of repeated applications and basically letting dwell most of the day to get them cleaned up. But it's done it with little to no scrubbing. I did the no scrubbing because I wanted to see if it would do it just by its reaction.

I went pretty light on the first application.



After one light application, a little dwell, and rinse.



And more, much heavier this time.



Then again the next day



Looks better



And again today, worked on the lug holes too.



It was dark by the time I rinsed them so I'll have to get picks tomorrow

hi,,
every time you wash your car just use a little WD40 on those surfaces, just be careful of lubed parts. It's just a more convenient and less messy version of the drop of oil technique offered by Dave Hickey.

I've got some of the iron x paste on hand and will get the wheels off to go fully after them. Haven't ordered the turtle wax remover unless the iron x fails.

I use WD40 to keep my metal items away from rust, and it works pretty fine...

As for me, I just keep Iron X paste for these kinds of situations.
