    Preventing Fog on Outside Mirrors

Hey guys, my father recently got a 2015 Passat Limited Edition. It's a very nice car and a great value with a nice set of features for the price...but no heated mirrors. Is there any product out there that would assist with keeping the mirror fog-free or at least better than leaving them untreated?

I was thinking of using some Meguiars Ultimate wax?

    Thanks for any tips.

If you try a product which causes beading, it will make it worse. So first step is to avoid the normal glass sealants/rain-x etc.

There are products out there which might help but they are almost all transient - basically they are more for indoor use which means that they will wash away with rain and excessive moisture. Your best chance may be that you have to keep using the appropriate product with your regular wash.

Some folks used to say Shaving Cream was good at preventing fogging on mirrors and glass. Rub a little in, then wipe clean.

Doesn't somebody (Carpro?) make a product called "Fog Fight"?

Install/retrofit the heated mirrors. You can probably get the parts from ECS Tuning.

They don't have anything for the B7, and it's a lease. That was the first place I looked when he took the car home.

    Here ya go...

CarPro Fog Fight, defogger, car window defogger, windshield anti fog

While it specifically states for interior glass surfaces i would want to give it a shot on the outside side view mirrors even if more frequent applications are necessary.

Shaving cream eh? Sounds interesting. I've always wanted something to help with this issue, especially since my windshield wipers aren't perfect so if and when I need to use them to clear out fog in the morning it ruins a perfectly clear windshield.
I'll test out the shaving cream on the bathroom glass 1st.
