Coating questions
I'm still learning so please bear with me. I'd like to buy a coating this weekend during the Labor day sale but, which should I consider? Which one would give me the most hydrophobic, impervious surface, that is microscopically smooth? These are the two most important features to me. Thank you very much for your time and consideration!
P.S. It would be nice to be able to top it if I chose to but it's not necessary.

Re: Coating questions
Unfortunately, there is no correct answer to your question as the evaluations at this point are largely subjective
You can "Top" any coating with a sealant, wax, etc; but be aware that is will negate most of the qualities of the coating

Re: Coating questions
Microscopically smooth = is that a fancy term for slick?
I would recommend CQuartz UK or the new Optimum Glass-Coat. I've been very happy with UK myself.

I viewed some C Quartz under magnification and it had pits in it. I don't want that. Perhaps the coating wasn't applied correctly. Thank you.
Thanks to all of you for your help. I do greatly appreciate it!

I suppose it could mean that. Slick would be good. Thanks!

On my GM tinted clear coat, CQUK darkened it to the point of negatively altering the effect. Just saying that it may darken your top coat. Most folks like it, but its not a desirable effect in all cases. It is nonetheless a great product and performs as advertised.
In my day we didn't have the Internet, iPods,iPads, or smart phones....but we had some really bad-azz cars.

at a microscopic level, even the smoothest materials look like they have gigantic valleys and peaks...
i believe the earth as a whole if you were to put it into size comparison would be much more flat than any man made object. (see video for worlds roundest object)

Would this be the general consensus? Is it better than the PBL Diamond Coating or Opti Coat 2.0? Thank you!
