Clay Bar and a waiting period?

Just asking for some opinions, I am on a time constraint to detail my car. I was thinking about clay bar my car a week before i do the polish and wax? I know by using the clay id be removing what little sealant i have left on my car, if any to be honest. Is this alright?

You most likely will be removing it.

Not sure if you could go the whole week without having to reclay. Since I usually just do it the same day but I do understand other people's time constraints. I guess other will chime in but I would guess that inspecting your paint before you proceed to correcting the paint will be a good idea. Most likely you'll be fine though.

Why not just use a spray wax after claying for that week so your cars paint has some protection, won't hurt. It's pretty cheap and easy to do and quick too. Not sure what OTC spray waxes are available though or if you already have any.

Tough question. Just to be on the safe side, I'd do the following:

Clay the day you're pretending to clay. Use a spray wax afterwards.

Next week, re-do clay, but that would only take a few minutes compared to extensive claying you did a week before.

Proceed to polish.

Again, I prefer to be on safe side, always, so my thoughts may sound (or actually be) excessive for majority.

When I'm in that time situation, I have done the full job on just certain body panels, and did the remaining panels the next weekend, or evening.

If you clay properly once, I'm not sure why you would need to again in a week or two, except for bugs?

The following week just do a WW wipedown and you'll be fine.

My only problem is im not the fastest using the porter cable to polish, swirl remover and then a sealant. Any idea how long it should be taking me. I have used the machine a few times and watched the tutorials but feel that I take too long. I feel like I can only get a good solid 6 maybe 7 hours without interruption for my car.

What car do you have? So your just going to polish and wax no compound?

Maybe an AIO?

And in the end just get out there and do it and just learn and keep learning.

Book smarts is good but hands on smart is just or even better. The great thing about AutogeekOnline is that you get both.

So IMO soak up as much information as possible and then just go out and do it, like NASA pilots with their books and simulators till their big day . Then just report back.

Subaru WRX, and I dont think I need a compound. I did that last year. I was planning on using Wolfgang swirl remover, then Wolfgang finishing glaze followed by their sealant. I do have some minor scratches that i tried compound on and it wont come out. I am not good enough to use a rotary to get it out so ill just have to live with it
