    A very thoughtful present indeed.

So many people have really nice cars but have no idea how thin the clear layer of paint is nor delicate.

    Nice idea Bill

I just got bombed today at a show. I couldn't have been 1 hour and the damage was done. I got it mostly off with Megs UC, but the outside edge of the bomb is etched in now. SOB! Just had the car repainted this spring and just finished another application of wax yesterday! No match for the bird doo!

Make sure the micro fiber cloth is VERY plush. I found out the hard way that bird droppings can have sand in them. I now keep Megs QD and GG plush blue micro fiber clothes in both my vehicle. Regular micro fiber clothes and bird droppings are an accident waiting to happen.

Re: How long does it take for a bird dropping to etch paint?

Some really good points in this topic. Years ago I was using Zaino and had multiple coats on a red Mazda Miata (single stage paint). I backed the car out of the garage, drove to the neighbors garage (.1 mile) and had a bird dropping on the hood. I immediately wiped it off, and already had an etch. That was one of many events that caused me to lose faith in Zaino's ability to protect. However, there is a very good point in this article that if bird bombs penetrate paint so quickly, how could a wipe on/wipe of product possibly protect any better. My Corvette got a dropping on it at a cars and coffee meet and I got it right off, minutes later, and no damage. After polishing my Vette, I can attest that they have very hard clear, and in this case it certainly protected it.
