"When Meguiar's uses the term non-abrasive, and other polish manufactures for that matter, what they mean is the product isn't scratchy, that is its not like a gritty product that will instill scratches into the paint."

Meguiar's spokespersons have often referenced that:
"a paint cleaner" is a polish; polishes are "paint cleaners".
And:
As long as the Department of Commerce doesn't set forth the guidelines/regulations/standards...
The current "Detailing Industry" products' nomenclature-processes will go on unabated and, seemingly: Indiscriminately, as well.
Allow me to paraphrase what Mr. Phillips has stated on many occasions:
'It's how the product in the bottle performs, not what it says it is on the bottle'.

Good find... I've written so much over the years I no longer know what's out there and where it's at...

That still holds true, in fact I had a similar conversation with a gentleman over the phone last week and gave him this advice when trying to figure out what products to use on his cars, that is
Judge a product by what the product does, not what the words say it is on the label.

And for an article that shows with some very telling pictures why you want to use a paint cleaner or some method of cleaning the paint before applying a wax, sealant or coating, check out this newest article on this topic...
Here's why you need to polish paint...

No, not at all.
The polish will have cleaned the paint like a paint cleaner by a racing it PLUS removed paint defects. The paint cleaner only cleans the top surface.
Your good to go to your next step, probably sealing the paint.
What are you working on?

Wouldn't a Traffic Film remover accomplish the same thing but less effort? they sound liked theyd also obsolete an iron X type dissolver too

Re: The benefits of a light paint cleaner, cleansing lotion or pre-wax cleaner
Bumping this helpful thread.
Do I need or Can I use a non-abrasive pre-wax cleaner or cleansing lotion every time I wax my car? If I buy Souvarian Wax and it lasts ~1-2 months do I have to reapply the cleaner every time? or just layer the wax and only use it a few times a year to remove the build up? Thanks

Does clay do the same thing? Does it remove embedded traffic film?
