I live in Rochester, NY... which is also a "great" winter destination. LOL. Anyways, I always use DG #601 and apply #105 over. Let that cure and top with Collinite. That will keep you all winter with time to spare.

Another thought beyond weather proofing your vehicle for winter. Lansing does get it share of snow. You may also want to consider how you are going to remove mounds of snow from your vehicle. You may want to invest in a soft snow removal tool. (AG might offer you a good deal, since no one buys a snow brushes during the summer).
If there are any Lansing forum members checking in. They may be able to tell you were the best coin operated/touchless places are located.

Do you recommend a specific brush from AG or all of them work great?

AG has the OXO version, but I do not like the scraper protruding out. To easy to scratch your paint. Something with soft feather tip bristles, used very carefully. You can find brushes all over, but they are hard bristles. No matter what you do, removing as much snow without touching the surface of your paint is a slow process but well worth it. There have been a couple of threads with snow removal tools here. I remember one of the threads, someone actually wrapped a microfiber towel around the brush. Snow and ice do enough damage. You will find micro scratches in the Spring. This is something we all live with and take care of in Spring. If you want to check the brush out, do what other have done to test the microfiber towels. Do the CD test, that people do for testing microfiber towels. You should see what a stiff brush does. I found a couple of brushes two years ago, with feather tips. You are going to hear and see alot of tips. Thats what we all are here for. Best wishes on up coming classes.
