Re: Hard decision made tonight.
I know all too well what you family is going through. My husband and I are still grieving the death of our Sheltie companion. He adopted us in 2003 and gave us 14 years and 2 days of incredible friendship and companionship. He died at home, with both of us with him, holding him. During the days of grieving that lay ahead for you and your family be gentle with yourself and each other. Be sure to talk with each other about all the wonderful years of unconditional love your dog gave you. Know also that your other dogs will grieve so allow them to do that. Our thoughts are with you tonight.

Re: Hard decision made tonight.
I am VERY grateful to read the responses here tonight. My AG friends mean more to me than any of you might realize.
I love to kid around, and contribute here & there when I can, but I mostly read & learn.
The fact that there are so many kind and caring people on this forum is just amazing.
I really appreciate it.

Re: Hard decision made tonight.
paul,
this is the best thing you can do for Koa, especially if she's in pain. the other dogs may see this and it's not healthy for them to continue to do so. as you may already know, i dealt on putting down not one but two dogs which were brother and sister and i had to do so four months after the first one (had 11 precious years with them). i at least got to hold both of them in my arms when they did it. as much as i would like another one (it would be a rescue), i can't bring myself to getting another anytime soon. i've even had dreams where the door bell rang and they were right there on the porch waiting for me. i miss them so much. as long as Koa see's and knows you (and the wife) are there before she goes then that is the most comforting thing (going to sleep in Heaven). my heart is with Koa, and your Family...

Re: Hard decision made tonight.
My sincere condolences...
The loss of a pet hurts.
They can remind us of the many milestones
in our lives; they often do represent the
true meaning of unconditional love.
Your pup, Koa, was so lucky to have
both of you guys...

Thank you so much, Bob.
Your humorous posts have always buoyed my spirits, and tonight is certainly no exception.

Thanks Paul.
Seems like I'm compelled to inject
a little humor, every now and then:
It's as though I've been predetermined
(foreordained?) to be jocose at times.
Hmmm...
Perhaps my forum name should be "Josh"...
