how do I remove the little rust-colored dots on white paint
I've run across these on every white vehicle I've ever done- the little rust-colored dots all over the lower panels of paint. I've typically resorted to Scratch-X or M105 with a terry applicator/towel with some pressure to remove them, but it's awfully time-consuming.
Anything faster? I tried the rotary with a polishing pad and M105 and it works pretty well, but this is just a standard $120 detail job and I'm not looking to buff half the truck.

You may want to try IronX. There's a thread on here about it on white cars and those little rust spots.

Sweet. A link would be awesome if someone knew where it was. I searched a little bit, but no luck.

Treating the car with Iron-X following by claying the car should get rid of them. Just fair warning the stuff stinks to high heaven and is extremely strong.
I used it for the first time over the weekend and it worked great!

Sweet. I don't suppose the local stores carry that or something similar? I'm putting in an order with AG today or tomorrow but the white truck is in my garage right now!

I doubt you will find it in the local stores.
They may have a similar decon system though. You'd have to find a supply store though, not autozone or anything place like that.
Worse case try claying it and see if you can get them off.

is this work included in the $120 job the client is paying for? might be a good opportunity to upsale your clients when you notice these kinds of spots in paint. This way you get paid for the hard work you do!

Those orange rust dots visible on white paint are almost always rail dust particulates blooming.
Try a clay bar to remove them.

When I got my Yellow mustang back in 02 I clay barred the heck out of it and still had some tiny red spots. But the Iron X I bought on the big 15% sale two weeks ago got rid of all the specks. And the car had been clayed many times in the last eight years and still the spots remained. And they were still there after compounding with Menzerna and a Makita Rotary. Because they were way below the surface, nothing could reach them without taking off a lot of clear.
IronX got them all!
