I keep a small aeorsol bottle in the boats just in case, Nothing and I mean nothing corrects a water invasion problem on a boat/jet ski motor like WD40. We've pulled the plugs on a hydrolocked jet ski, cranked the water out and shot a good spray of WD40 on the plugs and down the ports more than once and got someone back to the docks that way without towing.

#98, What's a TV antenna? LOL, is it good for cleaning old 45's too? It says it takes wax off of vinyl so it makes sense that it would work on the plastic trim.

Works great at taking dealer decals off of pick-up trucks. My husband thought I was crazy, but worked like a charm. I did a little chemistry explanation, his eyes glazed over but the decal came off.

WD40 is pretty cool stuff. It contains aliphatic petroleum solvents (Stoddard solvent) and light wt petroleum oils. Since your car is designed to use petroleum products there's probably nothing WD40 will harm, although it might stain cloth seats and carpeting. And other than crappy styrene, I don't recall any other plastics that it attacks.

WD-40...Stands for (Water Displacement) and the recipe wasn't perfected until the 40th try...Its first use was intended to Protect the skin of the atlas missle from rusting and was introduced to the public in 1958...

I remembered seeing that term (Stoddard Solvent) in an article I was reading by Mike Phillips - here is the quote (hope this works):

Stoddard Solvent is inexpensive and a commonly used solvent for in-expensive rubbing and polishing compounds. Stoddard Solvent is commonly used in automotive parts washers; it works great for stripping grease and oil off car parts and in the same way it will dry even more, already dry paint. Avoid products with inexpensive solvents on paint that's important to you.

No less, I have always kept some WD in the garage. Not my favorite penetrating oil, but it is good for certain uses. I always used to wipe down my ATV plastics with it. It would shine a lot and also mud wouldn't stick as bad on short rides.

I have also used it on metal inner fenders that have that rubberized coating stuff that you can't make look good.
